Finally arrived in Phuket after 24 hours of travelling, and it is dark gloomy and very stormy.
Apartment fantastic – absolutely huge and well equipped. Two pools ideal for Joe.
Took a walk into Karon – lots of typical shops, massage parlors and restaurants – first meal, huge success, absolutely delicious

Phew woke up to better weather – MUCH better weather – hot hot hot. Still marveling at the view from the apartment. A huge uphill climb to get here (even cars/taxis struggle with this short but very steep hill) but it is worth the climb.Dinner out tonight was lovely. There were two singers adding to the atmosphere. They offered Karoke in their breaks. I didn’t partake but an amazing Japanese Opera singer did!

Was going to go exploring today but bodies are adjusting to the heat and the food and so didn’t venture out. More pool, more balcony sun.
Cooked in. Haha – probably more expensive than going out. Will make more of an effort tomorrow

Weather still good which I am thankful for. It would have been very difficult here in the rain. Actually ventured out today and headed to our local beach which is a 10 min walk away – absolutely beautiful, gorgeous sand crystal waters etc etc. Sun VERY strong though so didn’t stay long.
Evening we took a TukTuk into Patong a much more vibrant place compared to our sleepy corner of Karon.

Making up for lost time today. We hired a van and a driver (Mr Kai) and did a tour of South Phuket taking in The Big Buddha, Chelong Temple, The honey bee farm, The Pearl Factory, Old Phuket Town, dinner and a couple of viewpoints. Came back tired but happy and more importantly cool.
I have written more about the day here

Early start today and took a half day trip to the Elephant Santuary (Camp 4) at Chelong. We had done some research and discounted many elephant attractions and choose one that took elephants from the tourist industry and gave that a happy retirement.
Afternoon by pool and on sun deck.

Took a short ride to Kata beach this morning which is only a short distance from our apartment, we found a shady spot under some palm trees and relaxed. Even saw a boar on the beach, had a lovely lunch at a beachside restaurant. Lazy afternoon at the apartment before (possibly) our last meal in Karon

Cannot believe it is our last day in this paradise. Terry, Charlie and Dominic went on an island cruise where they saw idyllic beaches, snorkelled and chilled. Joe and I stayed home to keep out of the sun, prepare for HK and start packing.
