Go to Borough Market was the 26th challenge in my 101 challenges to complete in 1001 days which ends on the 20th July.
It is another challenge I feel as though I don’t deserve to tick off as complete but as it is technically done and I won’t get the chance to enhance my experience before the end of my 1001 days, I am marking it as complete.
Being a real foodie, I have wanted to go to Borough Market for the longest time, but as my trips to London are always based around the West End I have never really had the opportunity.
My first visit didn’t really go as planned. As a family we were searching for something to do one day, I suggested that we took a trip to the market and the idea got a mixed reception. We took a train to London Bridge and had a slight detour to The London hidden treasure The Operating Theatre Museum. When we arrived, I was immediately captivated by the sights sounds and smells and couldn’t wait to start browsing, but unfortunately my companions didn’t share my enthusiasm and I soon gave up vowing to come back and complete the challenge properly.
My second visit even shorter and came as part of the Harry Potter Walking Tour. It was on a Sunday and Borough Market was closed, but we hovered outside a restaurant which was used as ‘The Leaky Cauldron’ in the film.
I was waiting for a third trip, one that I could wander round exploring the sights sounds and tastes of Borough Market, that will have to wait until there is a ‘new normal’
